A friend and I visited Cloak and Wand on a Thursday in late August, and basically had the store to ourselves. I am certain it gets crowded on weekends because it is a really cool space!
We were pleasantly surprised that in the front half of the store you can sidle up to the bar and order hand crafted potions. I don't typically "drink" my calories, but I ordered a Wizard Beer... a delicious cold concoction of butterscotch, vanilla and English toffee, topped with Griffin whipped cream and sparkled with fairy dust. This drink was so delicious that I thought about it for DAYS afterwards, and it was reasonably priced for a Large. Wizard Beer also provides you with protection from Dark Magic!
We spent a good hour browsing and shopping. There was so much to see, and things were set up and displayed so elaborately, that I felt like I was somewhere truly magical. Some of the displays were creepy and scary, while others were humorous or whimsical. I’ve never been drawn to "other worlds" in my reading habits, but this store, a tribute to wizardry, fairies and fantasy worlds, had a lot of fun stuff to look at, and we each wound up purchasing a few things.
