Only in Bucks County: Rebels and Redcoats Car Show

As part of its Independence Day celebration, Washington Crossing Historic Park invites classic car owners to compete in the third Rebels & Redcoats Classic Car Show on Sunday July 3, 2022, from 10 AM to 2 PM. If you don't happen to have a classic car to enter, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND checking out this show!

The Rebels & Redcoats Classic Car Show features only American, British, French, and German cars, representing the four countries involved in the Revolutionary War. In fact, the show is set up as a square in a large, shaded parking lot, with autos from each country taking up one side of the square.

The cars were really different than all of the other shows I've attended in Bucks County, and I appreciated the American + European theme.  Plus, they were in tiptop, mint condition! Seeing them all evoked great memories from my childhood. You see, my father was a car buff as well as an Anglophile, (lover of all things British) when I was growing up. He owned a series of 1960's and 1970's Jaguars that he tinkered around with and took out for Sunday drives. He instilled in me at a very young age the notion that Rolls Royces are the cream of the crop of the automobile industry, and it was always so very exciting to see one in passing when we were out driving around! My Dad also introduced me to Triumphs, MGs and many of the French and German auto brands before I was even six years old, so it was really cool seeing these cars from my childhood all in one place.

                                                                  

 

The photos above are from the 2018 Rebels and Redcoats Car Show. We went back again this year for the 2022 Show, and I was amazed at the growth. There were so many more wonderful cars to see.

Look for info on The Rebels and Redcoats Classic Car Show at Washington Crossing Historic Park on the park's website. It typically takes place the Saturday or Sunday of the Fourth of July Weekend.

Only in Bucks County: Summer Antique and Classic Car Shows

  The heat of summer seems far off, but pretty soon it will be ice cream season, concert season, and car show season. 

Bucks County has an amazing amount of meets, shows and cruise nights, and the first car show to pop up for the 2016 season in Bucks County is a big one; Bristol Borough's 38th Annual Antique Auto Show on Sunday May 1st, 2016. I've enjoyed car shows since I was a kid, and I'm particularly interested in the American cars of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Those are the cars that I gravitate to at the local shows I've been to, although of course there are also plenty of antique autos, foreign cars and sports cars at these events. 

My favorite Bucks County car show is definitely the Newtown Business Association's Antique and Classic Car Show, which is scheduled for July 10th this year. You can't tell by my photos, but it is always extremely hot that day...

The Doylestown At Dusk Car Show is a really fun show that doesn't really begin til twilight.

 It is planned for July 16, 2016 from 5-10 pm. 

The very popular two-day New Hope Auto Show will take place on August 13th and 14th.

As I said, I'm a sucker for the big old American cars of the 60's and 70's. Nostalgia I guess. 

I love how the interiors are symbolic to the technology and design of an earlier time.

Does anybody remember steering wheels like this?

At a small car show this Fall, I found my first car, a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am with a 400 horsepower engine. Definitely the favorite car I've owned!

The interior was almost identical to the one I owned, I still remember the feel of its small, thick steering wheel.

I love the chrome on these older cars!

And I love the fenders.
