Only in Bucks County: Cruise Night!

Chances are if you live in Lower Bucks County, you've passed the huge signs at Shady Brook Farm that say "CRUISE NIGHT TONIGHT." Now, being a Main Line girl who didn't have family farms like Shady Brook right in her township, I had no idea what that meant. And believe me, I used to think about it.
I pictured a mock Caribbean Cruise setting; attended by a bunch of blue-haired women sitting in rows of chairs PRETENDING they were on a cruise. And playing Bingo.
God was I naive!
Turns out Cruise Night isn't just a Bucks County thing.
The definition of Cruise Night even appears in the Urban Dictionary.
 Go ahead. Google it.

Either way, to understand it better, this is what I needed to learn:
1.   Cruising is a social activity that primarily consists of driving a car.
2.   Cruising is distinguished from regular driving by the social and recreational nature of the activity, which characterized by an impulsively random, often aimless course.
3"Cruise Nights" are evenings during which cars drive slowly, bumper-to-bumper, through small towns, or park in a large field for the public to enjoy.

And so... I attended my first Tuesday Cruise Night at Shady Brook Farm.
The biggest Cruise Night in all of Bucks County, with some Tuesday evenings drawing over 500 cars.
I had a blast!
And they had great food too!
Who wants to come with me next week?

I had a fabulous made-to-order Turkey Hoagie. They also had the grill going with hamburgers & hot dogs!

Fields of dreams.

Antique autos under a beautiful Bucks County sky!

Anyone remember how hot these seatbelts used to get?

Lots of trophies means lots of winners.

I think people who love cars also love Nostalgia.

No need for plastic fruit when Shady Brook Farm Market is open,
with all kinds of fresh produce and gourmet goodies!

We also picked up some wonderful asparagus from Shady Brook's Farm Market.
And brought home a bottle of Rose Bank wine!
